Artisans from various genres and arts companies—including theater companies, musicians, ateliers, game production and distribution companies, arts agencies, and instrumentalists—began popping up around Keumyung University Daemyeong Campus, eventually developing the area into what it is today—a specialized performance culture street offering a wide selection of performances and other art forms.

The Annual Road Festival not only features performances by Daemyeong-dong theaters but also performances of famous foreign works, musicals, and dances. In 2017, the name of the street was changed from “Daemyeong Performance Culture Street” to “Daemyeong Performance Street” in order to emphasize the image of active performances. One of the street’s signature landmarks is the Daemyeong Performance Arts Street, which opened in February 2018. The center consists of an Academy Hall (B1), Performance Information Center, Theater Exhibition Pavilion, and Performance IT Experience Hall, and offers various cultural programs, such as acting classes and specialized programs to hone various skills.
